Solar Lighting Kit For Remote Cambodian School

Leadsun Australia would like to thank Barbara and John on their recent trip to Cambodia. It was great to hear that the trip was a success and that our Lighting Kit was well received by the village community.

Letter From Barbara and John Hickson below.

My husband and I sponsored the construction of a library through Plan International in the province of Siem Reep, about 30 kl from the city of the same name. Plan International suggested the project to me as I am an architect and providing remote communities with much needed building space is a great way to provide lasting help. Plan arranges all the on ground organisation– the building committee, tenders, project management and the opening celebration!

The Khnar Primary School and village has no electricity and I wanted to take a special present to the school on the day of the opening. I approached Leadsun for a lighting solution, so that the library could be used in the evenings for study and meetings. They suggested the Pbox VI. It has the added benefit of a USB charger and 3 LED light heads, and it was lightweight, so it was just perfect for the purpose.

We demonstrated the solar lights at the opening ceremony and while the parents and teachers were all excited about the lights- they were double excited about the USB charger. Many of the teachers and committee have mobile phones- but only by travelling into the city can they charge them up.

So the gift was a great success and my heartfelt thanks to Leadsun for their excellent product.

Kind Regards, Barbara
