Project Background
A new suburb in the lush Hills Shire municipality of NSW, Gables is an evolving masterplanned community developed by Stockland amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Santa Sophia Catholic College (SSCC) was the first school to open in the budding estate, providing local P-12 education.

Evolving carpark lighting
Entering uncharted territory, Stockland took a conservative approach to the school’s groundwork, anticipating re-shuffles to accommodate the dynamics of the school. This was the case for the school carpark lighting solution, foreseeing re-location to suit traffic conditions and school logistics after 4-5 years. For this reason, Stockland sought a resourceful solar carpark lighting solution that would be easily re-deployed to reduce costs and waste, while maintaining the area’s opulent aesthetics.
Time specific carpark lighting install
Being part of a masterplan community, the project was running a tight ship, and the lights needed to be installed in the car park at a specific point in construction. This posed a challenge for most with myriad disruptions caused by the pandemic including restrictions, supply shortages and personnel availability.
Efficient installation and modern style
Stockland struck gold when discovering Leadsun FREEDOM solar lights for the SSCC school carpark in Gables. The grid-free aspect proposed a quick, easy, and economical installation and (when the time comes) re-location. Coupled with Leadsun’s specialist contractors, the installation was performed orderly and on time. Purpose-built for modern cities of the future, the FREEDOM solar light also offers a contemporary style to fit seamlessly into the newborn surroundings and meets council compliance with AS1158.3.1 PC3. Stockland also opted for EDGE wireless monitoring and controls for added convenience.
Carpark lighting expectations exceeded
Stockland expressed great satisfaction with Leadsun’s work in designing, supplying, and installing the school carpark lighting. As a result, they have placed orders for more solar pathway lights and solar-powered bollards to be used in The Gables recreational areas. The SSCC’s semi-permanent carpark is now securely illuminated while it awaits relocation. The existing FREEDOM solar lights can be easily reused when the carpark lighting needs to be relocated.
