Tormore Reserve Facility

As part of their ‘Livable Streets Plan’ the Knox City Council wanted to support the take-up of more walking, cycling and exercise in their community. New concrete pathways, a basketball court, outdoor gym and playground were constructed at the Tormore Reserve facility, but they needed lighting.
When considering to adopt either traditional grid power lighting or a solar powered lighting system, council made a budget conscious decision of electing solar powered which allowed them much greater flexibility to cost-effectively install 44 stand-alone solar lights and 7 solar powered bollard lights to illuminate pathways and thoroughfares around the precinct. Not only did this increase safety and create a much more inviting environment, it has increased the hours of use around this facility which tied in perfectly with the Livable Streets Plan.

In total, 1.2 km of pathway and thoroughfares have now been successfully illuminated through a combination of stand-alone solar lights installed on top of 5.5m high lowerable poles, as well as several 1.6m high LED bollards with all lighting illumination conforming to AS/NZS lighting standards.
The lowerable pole system allows all installation and future preventative maintenance works to be carried out quickly and safely at ground level without the use of any elevated work platforms. Additionally, the solar lights are future proofed by including Leadsun’s industry leading EDGE wireless control and monitoring system that
can be accessed by adding in Gateway module and plugging in a cellular sim card.
