Project Overview
As a part of the ‘Revitalising Braybrook’ initiative, the MCC was looking for an environmental sustainable lighting solution that heightened safety for young local residents using the car parks and thoroughfares connecting the Braybrook Community Centre with Skinner Reserve Precinct.
The Skinner Reserve Precinct is a popular walking route from local schools and shops and is heavily used by young people as well as local residents. A lighting scheme was required to improve the perception of safety immediately around the hub and to encourage more physical activity during the evenings and early mornings.
Leadsun Solution
- 40 x AE6 Solar Street Lights
- 120W ‘All In One’ Solar Engines
- Combination of 20W & 30W LED light heads
- Adaptive lighting control automatically dims lights to 30% during inactivity
- Lithium-ion batteries provides 10+ years maintenance-free life span
- Lowerable poles allows cost-effective servicing safely from ground level
- Future proofed with built-in wireless control and monitoring system
An important consideration of the council was that the unnecessary illumination of pathways and car parks late in the evening that could possibly encourage ‘anti-social’ behavior. Leadsun’s range of solar powered lighting products feature dimming and motion sensor technology that allows the lights to automatically ‘dim’ or ‘turn-off’ at a set time of the evening as nominated by the council.
Due to there being no in-ground cabling required, and the use of a concrete-less footing system, the installation process was very fast and was non-disruptive to both the environment and the local community who continued to use the whole precinct as normal.
The solar lighting project was successfully completed with lighting levels throughout the park high enough to ensure that all pathways and car park areas are safe for the public to use at night without the fear of crime.
