PROJECT OVERVIEW
Kirkham Park BMX Facility in the outer Sydney suburb of Elderslie, underwent a major $5.56m upgrade including the construction of a 200-space car park which involved the realignment of access road, construction of a pedestrian bridge, landscaping, and the installation of solar lighting.
CAR PARK LIGHTS CHALLENGE
Camden Council had 32 Leadsun solar lights from the Leppington Train Station temporary car park lights project in storage that they wanted to re-deploy. Leadsun were tasked with providing a new compliant car park lighting design using these lights, that would ensure safety for the busy facility.
SOLUTION
The lowerable poles and grid-free functionality made car park light removal and redeployment easy. Leadsun provided a seamless transition, making effective use of the existing assets that adequately addressed the requirements of their new location.
OUTCOME
Camden Council saved $40,000 of capital expenditure re-purposing their existing Leadsun solar lights; a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable result. Leadsun’s skillful lighting design generously left council with 16 out of the 32 solar car park lights to re-purpose in future projects.
