Originally, the council opted for a grid-powered lighting system for this seaside car park as it seemed like the easiest solution at the time. However during construction, it was discovered the site had extremely poor ground conditions and the installation of underground cabling was impossible. Having lost time and budget through this process they needed a new solution installed quickly.
The council also needed a solution that could endure high winds and extreme conditions as it was exposed to direct weather off the ocean. Added to this, the lighting was required to be powered from dusk till dawn to illuminate a boat ramp that is used at all hours of the night.

Leadsun presented Bayside City Council with a grid-free, cost-effective and dependable solar lighting solution that could withstand high wind loads and had proven dependability based on similar Leadsun projects that were still fully functional after many years of exposure to the same type of extreme weather conditions.
The lighting solution provided was our powerful AE6 Solar Engines with Plug & Play LED fixture coupled with the EZYpole lowerable poles & concrete-less footing’s allowing the project team to successfully install the entire solar lighting solution from ‘start-to-finish’ very quickly.
This was achieved because this project required:
- NO expensive underground trenching or wiring
- NO excavation of footing holes
- NO need for any machinery to lift poles or work at heights
The Bayside City Council was extremely happy with the outcome of this project as the car park reminded fully functional throughout the entire installation process. Installation of this project was completed in 2012 and all of these lights are still fully functional to this day.
