Project Overview

Using funding secured through the NSW Crime Prevention Grant Scheme, the Camden Council looked to install a lighting solution along the Meehan Terrace pathway to improve community safety. However being in a residential area, the lighting levels needed to be controllable so there is no light spill into neighboring properties, and further to this, the council wanted to ensure the lighting design was aesthetically pleasing to fit into the existing leafy environment.

Leadsun Solution

  • 10 x EDGE Bollards
  • 3 x AE355 Solar Modules
  • LED Output = 5W
  • 3 x 3m heritage green fixed poles
  • Programmable adaptive lighting control
  • Lithium-ion batteries provide 10+ years maintenance-free life span

As a standard complimentary service, a lighting design was created which included strategic light placement in accordance with AS/NZS 1158.3.1 public lighting compliance standards. Bollard lighting was chosen ahead of overhead lighting for this project as the design is more suited to the environment which consists of a rustic paved pathway connecting the Four Seasons Park Rotunda to Harrington Park Shopping Centre.

Leadsun EDGE Bollards were installed in 2 groups of 4 and one group of 2, with each group being powered by Master Solar Engines. To keep within the height of the existing bush trees, 3000mm poles were designed to blend into the environment with a heritage green powder coat finishing.

All lights in the network have been preprogrammed to operate from dusk to 11pm which provides ample lighting and safety in high use times. This new lighting solution has been very well received by the local residents as they now walk to the local shopping centre after dark in the safety of warm layered lighting powered by the clean energy of the sun.
