Project Overview
Ingenia Rental’s Durack community, located southwest of Brisbane’s CBD offers flexible and affordable rental properties for short and long-term housing. Situated on 34 acres of lush parkland with a private local road system, Durack takes pride in maintaining a safe and secure community for its residents. As such, management looked to install sustainable solar street lights and car park lighting around the precinct.
Pedestrian-friendly solar street lights
Although the private local roadways at Ingenia Rentals Durack are quiet, they also double as footpaths for residents and visitors. Street lights were needed to help keep both drivers and pedestrians safe at night and improve wayfinding.
Sustainable solar street lights aligned to Ingenia's values
Ingenia required a street lighting solution that offered great value for money and supported their sustainability goals of minimising carbon emissions and eliminating future energy costs. Leadsun’s modern, reliable, low-maintenance solar street lighting and outdoor pathway lighting enabled Ingenia to do this, reducing installation and running costs with zero emissions.
Overcoming shading challenges and designing fit-for-purpose solar street lighting
All major east-west roads plus the village entrance, swimming pool and a common recreational area were identified for improvement. To deal with tree cover on the northern side of the property, the system employs a Remote Energy Storage System (RESS) to capture sufficient sunlight and efficiently power solar street lights that would otherwise be shaded. All lights were fitted with programmable passive infrared (PIR) sensors to automatically increase the solar street light’s brightness when movement is detected. This improves security, minimises disruption to neighbouring properties and optimises battery life. With the addition of EDGE remote monitoring and control, village management can remotely monitor performance and adjust the settings if required. To allow easy cleaning and maintenance without lifting equipment, EZYLift lowerable, hinged poles were chosen.
Evening friendly communal spaces for residents
Leadsun solar street lighting and pathway lights installed at the entrance, on main roads and communal areas are making residents feel safer and more connected when moving about the neighbourhood at night. The contemporary tapered black poles paired with FREEDOM solar street lighting also in black look great and make the community a safer place for everyone.
