In 2005, Leadsun had a vision to revolutionise the public lighting industry by bringing together four emerging technologies – solar PV, LED light, lithium batteries and adaptive lighting controls – into one compact and modular solar lighting system. After extensive research, development and testing, in 2008, Leadsun went on to create the world’s first all-in-one solar light.
We’ve since gone on to distribute more than 300,000 lighting systems across the world and provide local authorities and
developers, consultants, planners, designers and architects guidance and lighting solutions they can depend on.
The Leadsun brand represents a catalyst for change and confidence in the future.We are on a mission to light up public spaces all across Australia and New Zealand with SMART, environmentally friendly solar lighting – and to do it easily, affordably and efficiently.

Leadsun operations take place on the lands of First Nations people across Australia and we acknowledge them as Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands and waters upon which we depend. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture and we pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. In particular, the Leadsun team would like to acknowledge the Bunurong/Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people of the Kulin Nation on whose land we are base.

Did you know there are over 304 million streetlights throughout our cities across the world and rapidly growing to over 350 million by 2025. That’s a lot! And for our local municipalities it’s their largest source of carbon emissions & energy costs? Well at Leadsun, we want to do something about that, which is why in 2008 we created the world’s first all-in-one solar powered streetlight which is grid-free. It’s what we’re passionate about.
So far, we’ve deployed over 300,000 grid-free solar-powered public lights across the world, but we know we have much more work to do which is why we’re continually looking for passionate people to help us make a difference.

Leadsun Managing Director Matt Pollard is part of a select teamthat works regularly with the Lighting Council of Australia setting the standards of public lighting in Australia.
Lighting Council Australia is the peak body for the lighting industry in Australia and their goal is to encourage the use of environmentally appropriate, energy-efficient, quality lighting systems.
